Background

During my undergrad I designed and built a portable armory for MU Fencing. I really liked the project and decided to brand the project as a portfolio piece.

Brief

Create an easy to move storage unit that maximizes available space. The solution must be able to store vital equipment necessary for training.

The Brand

Armory is a new sports brand in the fencing market with a focus on producing high quality, reliable, and long lasting equipment.  
Instead of showing new shiny products the brand takes a close look at scuffs, scratches, and dents. This is to show that their gear can stand the test of time, but also that each mark is a badge of honour. These marks represent the training, dedication and determination behind every win.

Logo

Fencing logos are generally icon heavy. Armory's logo differentiates itself from the competition through the use of simple and elegant logo type, this can be combined with black & white images for a powerful and recognizable aesthetic

Brand Mechanics

Armory's brand has been designed to be simple yet powerful. Imagery plays a large part in the effectiveness of this. Due to this a modest yet sophisticated logo and type face has been chosen. This will ensure the brand plays well with images without getting chaotic.

Imagery will add power, meaning and a narrative in which the brand exists. To do this effectively it is important to have a consistent style.

Imagry

As fencing is a sport full of the colours white and silver it lends its self well to creating light and interesting images. The brand will fully utilise this. 

Armory will use macro photography to take a close look at the beauty and story's depicted in their gear. This will be viewed through an elegant black and white spectrum.

Typography

The brand keeps things simple yet sophisticated with a type choice of Pragmatica, a timeless and stylish sans serif font. This will work excellently both in isolation and paired with images.
